Speaker: Daniël Moerman, Cyber Investigation Specialist at the Dutch FIOD
Info: The Financial Advanced Cyber Team (FACT) of the FIOD (Dutch Fiscal Information and Investigation Service) discovered in 2020, just after the COVID-19 pandemic started, that Dutch websites were being hacked on a large scale to sell illegal Corona medicines. When people navigated to the homepage of the hacked website, they couldn’t see anything strange, but when the website visitors pasted a special text after the original hyperlink, they were automatically redirected to an online webshop for illegal medicines. In fact: this illegal webshop was loaded right into the original legitimate websites via a specially prepared command-and-control server. In this presentation I will explain what we saw during this investigation and how we managed to stop the further spread of these illegal medicine websites.
We hope you can join us!
